As the name suggests neuromuscular therapy (NMT) address pain and dysfunction within the nervous and muscular system. Similar to Trigger Point Therapy, static pressure is applied to specific myofascial points to relieve symptoms. Neuromuscular massage can help restore circulation to an area, provide relief for nerve compression or entrapment and help to address poor posture, limit range of motion, stiffness, and feelings of muscle weakness. Massage therapists can choose to complete a neuromuscular certification through continuing education classes required for their state licensure and often incorporate neuromuscular techniques into their sessions.
