***Please See Note Below*** The proper functioning of the lymphatic system is critical to our body’s ability to drain stagnant fluids, regenerate tissues, filter out toxins and foreign substances, and maintain healthy immune function. It is a complex system comprised primarily of lymph vessels and nodes working in cooperation to accomplish these tasks. When the lymph circulation stagnates, fluids, proteins, cells, and toxins accumulate, and cellular functioning is significantly compromised. This may open the way to many physical ailments.
Lymph drainage techniques are gentle, light-touch, and noninvasive. The skin is gently moved and torqued in a specific manner based on scientific and physiological principles that have been proved to encourage lymph flow. A session can be very relaxing and leave you feeling rejuvenated.
Vodder Lymphatic Drainage Method known asManual Lymph Drainage (MLD) Developed in France in 1932 by Emil Vodder PhD and his wife Estrid Vodder ND, it has grown to be the most well known manual technique to assist lymph flow and aid in drainage of tissues. Working in a circular motion with precise pressure, direction and speed the lymph will be encouraged to move naturally.
Chikly’s Lymph Drainage Therapy known as Lymph Drainage Therapy (LDT) Developed by Bruno Chikly, MD, DO in the 1970’s. Chikly’s LDT is based on the traditional knowledge of Emil Vodder (PhD). LDT enables practitioners to detect the specific rhythm, direction, depth and quality of the lymphatic flow. Pressure will be applied to encourage the lymph to move according to the natural direction and rhythm.
Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) also called complex decongestive therapy, is an intensive program that combines many different treatment approaches including bandaging, compression garments, manual lymphatic drainage such as MLD and LDT, exercise, and self care. This is a therapy for those with a Lymphedema or cancer diagnosis and we currently do not have a therapist on staff offering this type of work.
*****We do not have a therapist on staff who has completed all necessary coursework required for a certification in LDT, MLD or CDT. We do not currently have a therapist on staff with specific training for pre-post liposuction procedures (although any lymphatic work can be therapeutic).*****
