We require a 24 hour notice of your intent to cancel, change or reschedule an appointment. We ask that you are mindful when booking with our therapists and that you are certain the time you choose works for your schedule. Clients who notify the studio less than 24 hours to cancel, make changes to, or who do not show up for appointments are financially responsible for the full session price. The owed amount must be paid before any other appointments will be accepted by PMT. To ensure a relaxing and stress free experience, please be mindful of appointment times so that our therapists may remain on time and unhurried for their next client. Late arrivals will receive the time remaining of their scheduled session but are responsible for the full session price. -Clients holding gift certificates and/or packages are subject to these policies. -If you are running more than 10 minutes behind please call the studio
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, cash and personal checks as payment. All sales are final on personal services and are due at the time of your service. We ask that you redeem gift cards and packages within two years of the purchase date, per Tennessee state law. -We are currently not accepting insurance but are happy to email receipts for insurance purposes. Prepayment Policy: Due to the high demand for our services and the terms described in our cancellation policy we may ask for prepayment for any session, especially in these instances: *If you are booking 3 or more appointments during one scheduling session. *If you call-in or walk-in and wish to book within the 24 hour cancellation window. *If it is a high volume weekend and/or special event. This payment is non-refundable and non-transferable, meaning it is for the therapist and session you are booking.
Do you provide Appointment Reminders?
We can provide phone calls, automated text messages and automated emails to notify you of your upcoming appointments. Reminders for appointments are only a courtesy of PMT. Any appointments booked are the responsibility of the person that booked that session and are subject to our 24 hour cancellation policy.
I'm pregnant, can I receive a massage?
We offer prenatal sessions for clients who are in their second or third trimester of pregnancy. Please notify the studio that you are expecting upon booking your session and we would be happy to place you with a therapist who offers prenatal services. If you are booking online please select 'Nurturing Prenatal Massage'. If you do not notify Practical Massage upon booking that you require prenatal services and/or that you are less than 12 weeks along, we will ask you to rebook when those requirements can be met.
Is a sixty minute massage actually going to be 60 minutes?
Punctuality = Full Session.We offer “true hour (to the minute)” sessions at our studio as long as you arrive on time for your appointment. Please note that we have a cancellation/late policy in place not only to protect our therapist’s time but also to protect our client’s time. If a client shows up late they will receive the remaining time of their session so that the therapist can remain unhurried and on time for the next client to receive their full session length. *If you are new to the studio please arrive 5-10 minutes early to fill out our intake form.
I'm sick, a massage will make me feel betTer right?
Although it may seem like a good idea to receive bodywork when you’re sick, it’s not! Bodywork is not intended to cure any diseases and if you are contagious you may spread germs to anyone in our studio at the time of your session. Also massage increases circulation and may exacerbate your symptoms! If you can get dressed by yourself, turn over on the table without assistance, lay flat for the full session length without experiencing any symptoms then you should be okay to receive bodywork services. Please wait until you are at least 3 days out from the onset of your worst symptoms and do not book if you are running a fever. When in doubt check with your doctor first.
Should I shower first?
Yes please! We know you might break out in to a sweat just walking from your car to our front door in the southern summer heat and that can’t be helped but please if you have gone for a run or to the gym at least rinse off before your appointment and wipe off those feet. We do not have a locker room or shower on the premises. Please note that massage creams and oils are made for dry skin and you may not receive the best massage our therapists can offer if they have trouble using their cream on your skin because of sweat.
Should I leave my under garments on?
Only undress to your comfort level. If you wear a pair of shorts or sports bra, this will automatically indicate to your therapist a boundary line for where to stop working. Regardless of what you are wearing, massage therapists are trained to drape the sheets appropriately throughout a session. Those clients in need of glute work will find that therapists are trained to work the glute while you are still generously covered. -We offer professional therapeutic bodywork services, similarly to chiropractors or physical therapists. We will not tolerate inappropriate behavior or comments. We reserve the right to refuse services to anyone for any reason and to terminate a session at any time.
Can I tell my therapist what kind of massage I would like?
If you have a preference for which type of body work or techniques you enjoy, we encourage you to read through our therapist bios and be sure to book with a therapist who most closely matches the type of work you like. If you feel like you need more or less pressure during the session please voice your concerns. It’s your session! You should always say when something doesn’t feel right and a professional and experienced therapist will want to know that you are comfortable during the session. -Please be sure to write any information pertinent to your massage on your intake form upon arrival or if you have already filled out an intake form please update your therapist so they can make a note.
Should I tip?
When clients ask if they should leave a tip we remind them that it is always their discretion, but Massage Therapy is considered part of the service industry, along with hair stylists, nail technicians and food servers, so clients can tip whatever they might in those situations. At Practical Massage our therapists are paid a commission per session. It does not include a tip.
Do you work on children?
We currently do not have a therapist on staff who is certified in pediatric services, therefore we only work on clients who over the age of 18. -We cannot allow minors to wait in the lobby or any where else in the studio for their parents/guardians appointments to end unless they are accompanied by another adult.
Where are you located and where should I park?
As of 2019, we have a new studio! We are located at 2707 Greystone Rd. Nashville, TN 37204. We are on a dead end street next to Invisible Fence and down the road from Float Nashville. We can easily be found from Bransford Ave onto Berry Rd then a left at the first and only light onto Greystone Rd OR you can come from 8th Ave onto Berry Rd then a right at the first and only light onto Greystone Rd

Do I need an Appointment?
We encourage you to book an appointemnt. We cannot guarantee accommodation if you are a walk-in client. However, if you are in the neighborhood just stop in, we would love to see you and we may have an opening!
When do you offer appointments?
As of 2019 we have new extended hours! Our first appointments now start around 9:00 and our last appointments go in around 6:00 Monday through Saturday. -For clients who book at 6:00, we close the front of the studio at this time and we may ask you to pay for your appointment before you get started. -We do not allow clients without an appointment to wait in the lobby for another client to finish their session during the 6:00 appointment.
How often should I get massage?
Massage is an incredible tool for maintaining a healthy balanced body and peaceful mind. We like to tell clients that massage is cumulative and often our clients feel the best if they incorporate massage therapy in to their wellness routine. What we mean is that if you make massage a once a month priority (or some people even come every other week) you’ll actually be preventing stress and tight muscles before they even occur. Think of it like an oil change for your car!
What is your Return Policy?
There are no refunds on services, gift certificates or packages. Please be sure you book with therapist who offers the services you prefer! We may exchange products within 30 days if they are unopened/unused.
I'm an athlete; when should I get a massage for my race/competitioN?
Massage applies moving pressure to muscles and other tissues such as tendons, ligaments, and connective tissues. That’s especially great news for athletes, who rely on limber joints and muscles for pain-free peak performance. Schedule your session a few days before or a few days after your event. As much it might seem like digging in to those sore muscles will relieve the pain, rest and recovery are just as important. The best thing you can actually do is hydrate, take a light walk, and let your muscles recover from the work they’ve done. Our body needs to go through it's own healing and rebuilding processes, which are in place for a reason! Deep pressure massage and intense stretching can be hard on the body, and we often have to recover from those treatments before pushing ourselves further. Running a race at your full potential and then experiencing rigorous body work could actually make you feel more worn out and more sore! If you do book a massage on race/competition day please expect that through talking with the athlete and using touch, a therapist will determine the state of the muscle and if it’s best to use light strokes or deep-tissue techniques to treat an athlete in a safe and productive way.
DO you offer couples massage?
Depending on availability, we may be able to offer two appointments with two different therapists at the same time. However, you will be in separate rooms, as our space is not sized for two tables in one room. Payment for two or more simultaneous appointments is due at time of booking.
